Tree Planting - SATURDAY, 12/7

Louisville Grows is partnering with the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council for their largest tree planting yet! Volunteers will plant 266 trees on Saturday, December 7th in and around Schnitzelburg.

Volunteers have spent the last few months canvassing the neighborhood, looking for homes for all the trees. The trees are native Kentucky species and are absolutely free to recipients.

Before the Saturday, underground utilities will be marked and the trees will be staged.

On Saturday, volunteers and Citizen Foresters will gather at AmVets Post 9 on South Shelby Street at 8 am to be sorted into planting groups. Each group will be responsible for planting around 10 trees.

At least 250 volunteers will participate in the planting on Saturday, but are still about 50 short of reaching our volunteer goal. We need YOU on that day! If you are interested in volunteering to make our neighborhood a greener and healthier place, please click here to sign up.

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Louisville Grows will also provide gloves. We ask that volunteers wear appropriate clothing for the weather and close-toed shoes. You will definitely want to wear something that you don't mind getting dirty!

This will be Schnitzelburg's 3rd time being selected for a Louisville Grow's tree planting. In November 2017, volunteers planted 181 trees in Schnitzelburg!

We hope to see on Saturday!
